Krk CroatiaTown Krk is the political, economic and cultural centre of the island: it is a very interesting town for tourists, who can count on a vast assortment of lodging possibilities at hotels or camping sites; there are also many restaurants serving traditional fish or lamb dishes. Services and places for entertainment or sports are also well-assorted. There are very many events, exhibitions, concerts and traditional feasts, which animate the town especially during the summer months. Krk has a historic-artistic patrimony of income measurable value and is ideally connected with the nearby centres: moreover, tours are organized for tourists to Kosljun and the main island centres.
Glavotok: A cape just opposite the island of Cres, 17 km north west of Krk. A forest of holm oak is a forest vegetation reserve. By the Church of the Immaculate Conception (1277), a Third Order Franciscan monastery was built in the 15th century.
Pinezici: A village 12 km north west of Town Krk. Once a fishing village, today it has developed into a holidaymaking spot.
Kornic: A smallish settlement 7 kilometres away from Town Krk, with an interesting rural architecture including the Parish Church of St James (Jakov) of the 19th century.

omisalj

For those arriving on Krk by land, this is the first town on the island; its position and the recent construction of the bridge have greatly favoured its tourist and industrial development. The splendid bay, the picturesque village, the green countryside and mild climate, maintaining itself between 10 degrees Celsius during the winter and 25 degrees Celsius during the summer, make Omisalj a prime tourist destination. Omisalj is with town Krk oldest settlement on the island, it is situated on the cliff 90 m. above the sea. City has been inhabited since ancient times, the Romans founded a large town called Fulfinum. Omisalj was of great strategic importance and during the fifteenth century it was fortified, old Tower still stands. There are many churches in the city, most famous are: Benedictine Abbey of Saint Nicholas and the Parish Church.
Njivice: A settlement on the north west part of the island (10 km south of Krk Bridge), located in the sheltered bay called Beli Kamik. Once a small fishing village, it is today one of the most attractive holiday making centres on the island.

Malinska Krk CroatiaA group of villages and farmhouse spread throughout a vast territory to the north-west of the island: this is Malinska, that each year is full of tourists and visitors attracted by the wonderful sea, the pleasant climate and the healthy air, which caused this locality to be given the nomination of Bathing Station at the end of the eighteenth century and early nineteenth century.
Porat-Vantacici: 3 km from Malinska, has a Third Order Franciscan monastery and the St Mary Magdalene Church from 1500.

vrbnik

Vrbnik Krk CroatiaVrbnk is a large borough on the eastern coast of the island: it is in a marvellous panoramic position on the top of a steep rock above the sea. The historic centre, that grew during the Middle Ages around an ancient castle, is 50 metres above sea level and, with its beautiful churches, austere buildings and old houses leaning on each other, on narrow and well-protected passages, it is extremely picturesque. Man was present here in prehistoric times. The village still has its fortified-village aspect, with still visible walls complete with towers and two gates; as in the past the inhabitants of Vrbnk are still farmers and produce in particular the famous "zlahtina" white wine.
Risika: A smallish settlement 6 km north west of Vrbnik, with a sandy beach in Sv. Marko Bay.

Punat

Not far from Krk is Punat, the most recent of the island's municipalities because it only became autonomous just over a hundred years ago: this municipality consists of the homonymous main town and the village of Stara Baska. Punat is in the broad and sheltered bay called Puntarska Draga. It is the greatest century of sailing-oriented tourism in the Adriatic. It is known for the production of excellent quality oil from local olives.
Stara Baska: A fishing village 10 kilometres south of Punat. Alongside its pebbly beach, its greatest value lies in the unspoiled nature, with its terraced gromace and stone-built sheep folds, its stone desert and cliffs, the habitat for medicinal and aromatic herbs.

Baska

Baska is situated on the south-east of the Krk island. It is town with beautiful sand beach, the longest on the Adriatic, that descend gradually into the sea. Baska lies in an ample and deep inlet: opposite it are the islands of Prvic and Zecevo; behind Baska the countryside, the homonymous valley crossed by the river Vela Rika. is dominated by Mount Treskavac the peak of which Obzova is the highest on the island.
Draga Bascanska: In the immediate vicinity of Baska (4 kilometres). The 45th parallel goes through the settlement.
Batomalj: This lies in the Baska valley. A church on an eminence is a well-known Marian shrine, Our Lady of Gorica.
Jurandvor: This is located in fertile Baska polje (2 km north of Baska). It is famed in Croatian cultural history for the ancient stone-tablet with its Glagolitic inscription (ca 1100) that was found in the Early Romanesque St Lucy's Church.

Dobrinj

Dobrinj is on the north-eastern part of the island, in front of the Crikvenica. on the mainland, with which it was connected during the fifties thanks to a ferry service. Dobrinj is a pretty town. that grew from a small borough around a castle of the Frangipane counts. There are very many villas and holiday homes in the municipal territory. Wonderful sea and very green countryside make this area a real paradise. For tourists, a marina for pleasure boats has been built at Klimno. and various bays and inlets allow for a peaceful stop and a nice swim.
Silo: Located in the north east of the island, looking onto the Crikvenica Riviera on the mainland, 6 kilometres south east from Dobrinj (26 kilometres from Krk Bridge). As well as its traditional fishing and seafaring, Silo is also developing into a pleasant holiday spot.
Soline, Klimno and Cizici: Smaller settlements in the immediate vicinity of Dobrinj, located along the spacious Soline Bay, known for its pre-Roman salt pans and its medicinal mud for the treatment of bone ache. There are an anchorage for small boats and a shipyard in Klimno.
